New Year Singing Retreat. 2013/14

When I was a kid we were always served up New Year courtesy of the BBC. Noel or Terry guiding us up to and past the golden hour. Inspiring as that might have been, I always wondered whether there were people out there having more fun!

For New Year 2014 we’re taking Singing Holidays to the Abruzzo for a very special 5 days of Capodanno singing in the mountains. We’ll be staying in unique and exceptional accommodation within the National Park, living in beautifully simple & extremely comfortable peasant houses where the only concession to authenticity is the underfloor heating and luxury bathrooms. We can live with that!

We’ll be eating the most amazing local food, snuggling up to open fires, supping the very best Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, walking in nature, breathing clean air and of course, singing at every opportunity.

Morning Breath Bodywork sessions, sacred a cappella singing, individual voice lessons will all be the focus of the week. We will be totally submerging ourselves in music, nature and luxury as we escape Noel’s jumpers and dunk ourselves into a veritable and uniquely memorable New Year’s singing experience.

This will be a unique and unforgettable holiday.

Sextantio Albergo Diffuso

A medieval mountain hamlet where history and designer fittings meet to create a unique cultural experience.

There’s nothing quite like this ‘Albergo Diffuso’ anywhere else in the world. Put together by a team passionate about cultural preservation, this exquisite hotel is a collection of stone houses and suites dotted around a crumbling hilltop village, set within the National Park of the Gran Sasso in central Italy.

This is not a typical holiday accommodation: it’s a step back in time and it’s utterly unique.

We’ll be living in former peasant (Contadino) homes that have been upgraded extremely sympathetically. No TV, no telephones, traditionally woven bed linen (made onsite) are coupled with open fires, under floor heating and luxury (Lusso) bathrooms. It’s going to be tough!!

The food is spectacular – totally unpretentious but completely delicious. Some of the best food we’ve tasted in Italy (and that’s saying something). Local organic ingredients are coupled to traditional recipes made by the very best chefs. Yummy!

This is not a ‘Walt Disney’ experience. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a small piece of bygone rural Italy at a very special time of the year.
