Description
Sorry, but this Singing Holiday is now fully booked
On April 12th we’re off to Orvieto in Italy for 4 nights of Easter Singing Holiday bliss!
Our days will consist of ‘Breath BodyWork’ sessions with Temi, vocal warm ups with Alex and music rehearsals with Ben.
We’ll be staying right in the centre of the old town at the convent of San Lodovico as guests of the lovely Suor Giovanna. We’ll be enjoying the best Italian food, the delicious local wine and singing mass and a short concert in one of the most important and impressive Cathedrals in Italy.
High in the majestic hills of Umbria, surrounded by miles of vineyards and olive groves this fantastic 14th century Gothic and Romanesque building is one of the most dramatic jewels of Italian architecture.
Its mix of styles, glorious position and 10 000 square metres of frescos by some of the greatest masters such as Fra Angelico, Benozzo Gozzoli, and Luca Signorelli combine to create a building of huge historical, cultural, artistic and religious significance. A building that is as beautiful as it is important.
Orvieto itself is a little gem. Perched high up on a ridge overlooking open countryside, this amazing town offers some interesting and unusual attractions. As well as Etruscan and Roman ruins, a fort and the famous Pozzo di San Patrizio well, Orvieto sits on an underground labyrinth of tunnels, galleries, cellars and cisterns dug deep into its volcanic rock.
Why not join us for an incredible 4 nights of singing next April. All accommodation, meals, wine with meals and tuition are included in the price. Flights and internal travel are not included.
San Lodovico, Orvieto
The convent of San Lodovico dates back to the 4th century. Situated in the centre of Orvieto right on the city walls it has the dual benefit of city centre access and countryside views.
Run by the lovely Suor Giovanna and the Sisters of Compagnia di Maria, we can be assured of having a warm welcoming stay.
What sticks out for me about our accommodation is the feeling of space and oasis. Although we will be staying in the centre of Orvieto, once within the walls of the convent you’re transported away from the city bustle into non-starchy serenity. A glimpse of the Cathedral or the sounds of bells are the only hint that the action is near by.

Not much beats Umbria in September. As the warm summer sun continues to kiss the skin, it’s an unexpected pleasure to find your hand back in the t-shirt draw.
In September 2012 Ben Saul returns for his 3rd year of Singing Holidays. Warm, ultra talented, cheeky and more fun than sucking out the contents of a helium balloon, Ben brings his own highly musical and creative expertise to a wonderful music holiday week of sacred singing.
