Was this our 4th London Musical Singing Workshop? A brand new arrangement of One Day More by Pippa Gearing really went down a storm. Matt Pallant on piano and Pippa Gearing leading the charge. Inspiring stuff.
The Unthanks are a Mercury-nominated folk band. They have collaborated with Sting, Orbital and Portishead. They count Ewan McGregor and Nick Hornby as fans. All of which is to say they’re a pretty big deal. And, earlier this year, they formed a new choir. With me and 14 other amateur singers — no talent necessary. And it only took us four days. How’s that for bragging rights?
London Music Theatre Workshop with Pippa Gearing. This singing workshop was a taster prior to a genuinely unique holiday experience in 2017. A singing event based in the Mecca of music theatreland that will suck you in, spit you out and leave you lying on the ground with a big smile on your face whilst burbling incomprehensibles. This is our rollercoaster 5 nights in New York City.
A Singing Retreat in a luxury Masseria within a nature reserve, on the beach and in Sicily. You can’t go wrong can you?
“Thank you both for all the personal care, the encouragement, the opportunities, the food and everything; it’s been absolutely one of the best holidays I have ever had – and you can quote me! You might like to know that I am now primed to start singing lessons later in the summer”
Subsequently featured in The Sunday Times, this was a truly inspirational folk singing holiday with Mercury nominated UK band The Unthanks.
“During a break on our first morning, I heard them working on harmonies in a medieval passageway, as swallows darted past outside and lavender scented the air. Their voices were beautiful, weaving in and out of one another like cotton threads. I felt very lucky”.
